The MACJ program is designed for students to<br \/>\nadvance their careers and make a meaningful impact within the criminal justice field. This graduate<br \/>\nprogram provides a comprehensive and interdisciplinary education in criminal justice, offering<br \/>\nspecialized pathways that cater to the evolving needs of today\u2019s criminal justice landscape.<\/p>\n<p>The accelerated Bachelor\u2019s and Master of Arts in Criminal Justice degree will allow students to complete<br \/>\ntheir degree in five years. Students from any major can apply to this program.<\/p>\n<p>Please get in touch with your advisor or program director Hyoungah Park at <a href=\"mailto:hpark1@saintpeters.edu\">hpark1@saintpeters.edu<\/a>, for information on the MACJ Program.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>The Accelerated Bachelor\u2019s to MACJ degree program offers several advantages:<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Accelerates the attainment of an advanced degree<\/li>\n<li>Facilitates seamless transition to a master\u2019s degree<\/li>\n<li>Increases students\u2019 marketability in the Criminal Justice field.<\/li>\n<li>Saves students time and money (first nine credits are included in full-time undergraduate tuition<br \/>\nfor a saving of around $9,000.)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Admission Requirements<\/strong><br \/>\nAny student may apply to the program upon completing 60 credits\u00a0and, upon acceptance, take three<br \/>\ngraduate courses (nine credits) within their last 30 credits.<\/p>\n<p>Specific admission requirements include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Successful completion of 60 credits<\/li>\n<li>Cumulative major GPA of 3.3 or higher, Major GPA of 3.0 or higher, and Cognate Course GPA of<br \/>\n3.0 or higher at the time of application and when the BA degree is completed<\/li>\n<li>Complete the Bachelor\u2019s degree in four (4) years or less<\/li>\n<li>Submission of the graduate application and personal statement (250+ words)<\/li>\n<li>Official transcript(s) will be obtained from Enrollment Services upon completion<\/li>\n<li>Two letters of recommendation from the school of Undergraduate Degree<\/li>\n<li>An interview may be required<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Students may apply to the program by November 1st , but not later than March 1st , before their last 30 <\/strong><strong>credits.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Credits and Curriculum<\/strong><br \/>\nThe Master of Arts in Criminal Justice degree program is a 36-credit program. If accepted into the<br \/>\naccelerated program, students will take up to nine graduate credits in either the fall or spring within<br \/>\ntheir last 30 credits. (<strong>Note:<\/strong> Undergraduates cannot take graduate courses during the Winter Trimester.)<br \/>\nGraduate courses taken while an undergraduate are billed at the undergraduate tuition rate and fulfill<br \/>\ncourse requirements for the Bachelor\u2019s and Master\u2019s degrees.<\/p>\n<p>Students will meet with the MACJ program advisor to choose from the courses listed below. The<br \/>\nbachelor\u2019s degree will be awarded upon completing all undergraduate degree requirements. (<strong>Note:<\/strong> The<br \/>\nUniversity will apply the initial nine graduate credits to the graduate transcript upon completing 12<br \/>\nadditional graduate credits.)<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>CJA 616 U.S. Constitution and Criminal Justice Administration<\/li>\n<li>CJA 665 Advanced Criminological Theory<\/li>\n<li>CJA 674 Criminal Justice Policy Formation and Analysis<\/li>\n<li>CJA 658 Ethical Issues in Criminal Justice Administration<\/li>\n<li>CJA 650 Research Methods in Criminal Justice<\/li>\n<li>GB 511 Organization Behavior and Organizational Development<\/li>\n<li>AC 501 Managerial Accounting<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Upon completion of the bachelor\u2019s degree, students take all graduate courses and enroll in at least two<br \/>\ncourses each subsequent trimester until they complete the degree. All graduate courses are billed at the<br \/>\ngraduate tuition rate. Upon completing the remaining graduate credits, the students will be awarded a<br \/>\nMaster of Arts in Criminal Justice.<br \/>\n<strong>(Students can complete the program in ONE YEAR after receiving their bachelor\u2019s degree.)<\/strong><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Learning Goals<\/h3>\n<p>Our MACJ program emphasizes a balance between theoretical knowledge, practical application, and<br \/>\nadvanced research, equipping students with the skills required to lead and innovate in various criminal<br \/>\njustice roles. Students will engage in rigorous coursework, hands-on experiences, and a capstone project or comprehensive exam, preparing them for real-world challenges and leadership positions within<br \/>\ncriminal justice agencies, government, nonprofit organizations, and private sectors.<\/p>\n<p>Students will be able to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Develop advanced analytical skills to critically examine criminal justice issues, policies, and<br \/>\npractices.<\/li>\n<li>Cultivate problem-solving and decision-making skills to address contemporary challenges in<br \/>\ncriminal justice.<\/li>\n<li>Gain proficiency in research methods and statistical analysis applicable to criminal justice<br \/>\nresearch.<\/li>\n<li>Develop skills to conduct independent research, focusing on applied research projects relevant<br \/>\nto criminal justice policy and practice.<\/li>\n<li>Demonstrate an understanding of ethical issues in criminal justice, including ethical decision-<br \/>\nmaking and the impact of ethical practices on justice outcomes.<\/li>\n<li>Understand and apply knowledge of legal standards, regulations, and rights in criminal justice<br \/>\nsettings.<\/li>\n<li>Acquire knowledge of administrative practices, including management principles, budgeting,<br \/>\nand organizational behavior within criminal justice organizations.<\/li>\n<li>Understand strategies for leadership and effective policy-making in the criminal justice system.<\/li>\n<li>Analyze criminal justice issues from a global perspective, with an understanding of international<br \/>\ncriminal justice systems and transnational crime.<\/li>\n<li>Develop cross-cultural communication skills and awareness of global human rights standards<br \/>\nrelated to criminal justice practices.<\/li>\n<li>Develop expertise in cybercrime typologies, digital forensic techniques, and cybersecurity<br \/>\nstrategies.<\/li>\n<li>Gain practical skills in investigating cybercrimes and applying digital forensic methods to detect<br \/>\nand respond to cyber threats.<\/li>\n<li>Learn to leverage technology, including data analytics and artificial intelligence, to enhance<br \/>\ncriminal justice practices and policies.<\/li>\n<li>Understand the role of emerging technologies in crime prevention, investigation, and justice<br \/>\nadministration.<\/li>\n<li>Enhance written and oral communication skills to effectively convey complex criminal justice<br \/>\ninformation to diverse audiences, including stakeholders and policymakers.<\/li>\n<li>Develop the ability to present research findings and policy recommendations clearly and<br \/>\npersuasively.<\/li>\n<li>Apply theoretical knowledge to practical issues through a capstone project, focusing on real-<br \/>\nworld criminal justice challenges.<\/li>\n<li>Develop skills in designing, executing, and presenting an applied research project contributing to<br \/>\ncriminal justice.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Are you interested in a career in Criminal Justice?
