Keppel’s address focused on her career, as well as advice to students regarding how to network and tips to secure employment after the interview. After meeting with Dr. Stephanie Bryan who is overseeing the internship students, Obalaji Baraka, the director of Newark Recreation, expressed his great hopes for the Âé¶¹´«Ã½AVPeter’s students to set an example for the youth of Newark demonstrating that college is an option and by no means out of reach. Mr. Baraka is very interested in extending his partnership with Âé¶¹´«Ã½AVPeter’s through the hiring of students to work in his summer recreation programs.

panelOn Monday, April 27 a roundtable titled, “How Sport Can Contribute Towards Peace and Sustainable Development from a Social and Economic Perspective” was held in The Duncan Family Sky Room. The event was presented by The Light Millennium in collaboration with the sports management program, the Âé¶¹´«Ã½AVPeter’s athletic department, the department of business administration and the Guarini Institute for Government and Leadership.
The event was moderated by Professor Kevin Callahan, J.D. ’69 and panelists included Erden Eruc, solo rower; Dr. Joseph Spears, assistant professor in the department of teaching, learning and professional development at Bowie University; Rose Harper, chief executive officer of The Grass Ceiling; Carlos Garcia, executive director and senior advisor for South-South News; Joseph Quinlan, athletics director at Âé¶¹´«Ã½AVPeter’s University; Shannon Nulty, a Âé¶¹´«Ã½AVPeter’s student athlete; Tunc Ucyildiz, international surfer; Ergun Yurdadon, director of the sports management program at Âé¶¹´«Ã½AVPeter’s. The panel explored how sports are practiced around the world and can serve as a common denominator to break down walls.
