Jersey City – Dr. Brian C. McCarthy ‘82 will be the featured speaker at the 56th Annual Mendel Lecture on Thursday, April 12 at 4 p.m. in Pope Lecture Hall. His talk is entitled History, Ecology, and Restoration of the Nearly Extinct American Chestnut.
Dr. McCarthy received his BA in Biology from Âé¶¹´«Ã½AVPeter’s College, an MS in Botany at Ohio University in 1984 and a Ph.D. from Rutgers University. He is a professor in the Environmental and Plant Biology Department at Ohio University.
The Mendel Lecture is the longest running lecture series in the College’s history. This year’s event is co-sponsored by the Biology Department and the Mendel Biology Society, a student-run organization, and will take place in the Pope Lecture Hall on the Jersey City campus.
Âé¶¹´«Ã½AVPeter’s College is the Jesuit College of New Jersey. Founded in 1872, Âé¶¹´«Ã½AVPeter’s has an enrollment of approximately 3,000 students in undergraduate and graduate programs. The main campus is located in Jersey City. The College has a branch campus for adults in Englewood Cliffs, NJ and also offers courses at various corporate sites at the Jersey City waterfront and in South Amboy, NJ.
