SAINT PETER\u2019S COLLEGE ART GALLERY WILL HOST April 4, 2003<\/EM>— Jersey City, NJ-\u2013 The Â鶹´«Ã½AVPeter\u2019s College Art Galley, located in the College\u2019s O\u2019Toole Library, will present an exhibit entitled \u201cOrientalists\u201d from April 10-30. The exhibit will feature many important artists including Jean-Leon Gerome, Paul Flandrin, Eugene-Francois Deveria, Robert Edward Morrison ant A. Schreyer. The exhibit will be open to the public daily, with the exception of Sunday, from 11 a.m.-to-4 p.m. It will remain open until 9 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday.
\u201cThe school of art called Orientalism flourished in the 19th century and showcased the interest Europeans and Americans had in the near and Middle East,\u201d Art Gallery Director Reverend Oscar Magnan, S.J. said. \u201cDuring that time, artists were inspired by the exoticism of the markets, casbahs and harems as well as by the mysteries of the Arab world..\u201d
